Abstract: According to the enhancement of cold rolling shape control precision requirement, the development of shape control technology and the improvement of intelligent control technology, shape-thickness-tension comprehensive optimization of tandem cold rolling setting control system is proposed instead of traditional load distribution research. Thickness-tension optimization is executed by the integrated goal of minimum shape deviation, maximum bending force margin and load equalization. Work roll bending force and intermediate roll bending force are optimization designed by the target of minimum shape deviation along strip width. Then three-populations particle swarm optimization and differential evolution algorithm(Thr_PSODE) is developed and applied to the optimization design. It is proved by field application that by shape-thickness-tension comprehensive optimization of setting control system, rolling schedule, tension schedule and shape control methods are optimally allocated. On the basis of the balance between other optimization goals, high-order shape defects with complex modality are controlled effectively by the fully excavation of mill shape control capability. Consequently, expansive research and apply prospect is expected.
