Abstract: Thickness, hardness and composition changes of “white lager” formed on the surface of steel after friction test by plane-sliding were influenced by many factors, such as friction force and velocity, cooling conation and original microstructures. It had been found the “white layer” formed on the surface of 55SiMaMe steel after normalizing exhibited dense microstructure and a suitable thickness under the operation consisting of pressure with 1.47 Mpa, contacted area up to 80%, relational speed an 2000 to 2100r/min and oil cooling.
