Abstract: On the basis of a large quantities of experiments, a super-finishing grinding method for advanced ceramic material Sialon by common abrasive wheel is proposed. The influence of tehnoleogical parameters and wheel field balancing on the super-finishing grinding process is analysed and grinding forces are measured. Through observing the work piece surface by SEM, the removal mechanism during super-finishing process is studied. It is indicated that the formation of super-finishing surface of ceramics depends upon the plastic flowing removal type.
