NUMERICAL SIMULATION AND EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH ON THE FLOWPATTERN IN SWIRLING TUBE SEPARATIONS

Abstract: The computational fluid dynamics (CFD) turbulence models in the cyclones is presented. The flowpattern in the swirl tube separators is simulated by using the turbulence model, which is a hybrid between an algebraic stress model (ASM) and a full Reynolds stress model (RSM). The simulated results for distribution of the velocity components in the swirl tube separators are got. The LDA is applied for the measurement of the velocity components in the centrifugal separators. Both of the strong inward radial flow under the vortex finder wall and the strong inward flow at the bottom of the swirl tube, are existed.
