AMENDING REDESIGN OF TORQUE CONVERTER BASED ON INTERNAL FLOW FIELD SIMULATION

Abstract: To improve the performance of torque converter and make it cooperate with engine more properly, a redesign procedure is described to acquire a better torque converter. The study focuses the amendment of turbine blade based on the flow field simulation. Flow simulation can help us to analysis the charac-ter of torque converter. Through changing control parameters of turbine blade such as inlet and outlet angle, midline profile, thickness distribution and so on, a variety of blades can be cre-ated. Flow simulation is carried out again for the new blade and internal flow field. The parameters of blade can be amended based on the flow character. Finally the performance of redes-igned torque converter will satisfy the requirement. The effi-ciency of torque converter has been improved and the K factor makes the torque converter work well with engine. The pro-posed redesign strategy is approved by the test.
