Abstract: A new experimental method for oil - ring bearings is proposed, in which all the structures of the bearing it taken as the experimental object and the leaking oil flow as the metrical index of starved lubrication condition. The experimental device is designed and established to implement this method. An experiment is done to investigate the lubrication performance of an imported high - speed oil - ring bearing. Some important data such as flowrate, thermal balance temperature and kinetic parameters of the oil - ring are obtained in a wide range of operational condition. The results of this experiment provide a basis for the improvement of the design guidelines of oil-ring bearings.
