Abstract: Based on CAD/CAE integration, a general parameterized structure shape optimization design platform named POSHAPE is developed. To automate modern product design process, the three-dimensional parameterized CAD system, the finite element analysis, the optimizer and finite element modelling modules are integrated to achieve general three-dimensional parameterized shape optimization design system which forms an open integration system of structure analysis and optimization design. In present work, the bed slide of centre lathe, labelled with CD6140A is studied on this platform while its geometric dimension parameters are taken as variables of design optimization. The three-dimensional solid structure weight is to be minimized with maximized stiffness and maximized minimal self-vibration frequency. The result of optimized design can provide important theoretical basis for the design of machine tools.
