Abstract: The chaotic motion characteristics are expounded. The numerical experimental analysis methods are expatiated thoroughly by taking the Duffing equation system as an example. They consist of the method of observing directly for the phase orbit, the stroboscopic sampling method, the method of Poincare surface of section, the counter fail phase space method, the self power spectrum method, the Lyapunov exponent method and the fractal dimension method. The numerical methods presented have an instructive significance for the research of chaotic engineering.
Key words: Chaotic engineering, Fractal dimension, Numerical experiment, Phase trajectory, Strange attractor
