Abstract: Taking into account the effect of temperature dependence of material properties, the transient thermal stresses in the plate of a functionally gradient material (ZrO2 and Ti-6Al-4V) are analyzed by the finite element method (FEM) and the finite difference method (FDM). At the same time, the accuracy of this method is examined. Finally, the transient thermal stress distributions under the convective heat transfer boundary are obtained and compared with the results of temperature-independent material properties. The numerical results show that the temperature dependence of the material properties is one of the most important factors in the accurate evaluation of the stress distributions. In addition, the stress distributions are substantially changed with the change of the temperature of the surrounding medium and the parameter M and the convective heat transfer coefficients. The results pro-vide the foundations of theory calculation for the design and application of the material.
