Abstract: This paper take advantage of electrolysis separation-radiometry and microradlonulography to study the distribution of nodulizing element Ce and anti-nodulizing element S in various phases of industrial cast iron. Test make it apparent that Ce concentrates most in graphite. As Ce content in cast iron increases, S content both in cast iron and in graphite decreases, but the latter decreases faster. Even if graphite morphology is nodular there is still some S in graphite, Ce blocks S to absorb in graphite and vice versa. In graphite, Ce may absorb in lattice defect, while perhaps S exists in graphite as interstitial dissolved form, dissolved S content in cast iron is very little. S mainly exists in east iron as MnS. It is beneficial that a little S exists in cast iron for getting vermicular graphite cast iron.
