Abstract: Aiming at the characteristics of high weight, complex and harsh working conditions, and high tire wear and consumption of multi-axis mining vehicle, a mining vehicle steering system with switchable steering modes is proposed, and a parameterized model of multi-axis steering mechanism of the 280 t mining vehicle is established. A multi-axis mining vehicle steering system optimization design method based on “equivalent theoretical turning angle” is proposed to analyze the feasibility of coordinated optimization design for different steering angle errors, and the wheel angle errors under different steering modes are coordinated matching. The research results show that the overall performance of the optimized steering mechanism’s figure-sharing steering is better than that of the conventional steering mode. Compared with the original design, it is more in line with the actual needs of vehicle transportation conditions. The weighted equivalent turning angle error of the optimization target is reduced from 3.021 to 2.550. The decline was 15.57%, indicating that the overall effect is relatively obvious after the optimization. The results have significant reference value for the design of multi-axis vehicle steering system.
