Abstract: Laser cladding is one of the key technologies to realize the generalized growth of scrapping machinery products. Time interval on multilayer laser cladding greatly affects the microstructure and mechanical properties of the laser cladding products. A correlation mathematical model of the optimal time interval and the number of cladding layers under the highest hardness of the cladding area is established based on the relationship between overall hardness of the cladding layer, time interval on multilayer laser cladding and the number of cladding layers. With a consideration of the optimal time interval and layer by layer scanning path, the selection rules for the empty travel path of the cladding head is formulated and a multi-zone and multi-layer laser cladding path planning model is established. An improved ant colony algorithm for model optimization is proposed. A multi-layer integer coding is adopted to overcome the problem of coding confusion between different cladding layers and different zones. The rule of path selection is made and the incentive function is introduced to avoid the local optimization in the initial stage of the algorithm, and the pheromone allocation mechanism is improved to optimize convergence speed and accuracy. Simulation test verify the correctness of the model and comparison of algorithm results verify the effectiveness and superiority of the improved algorithm.
