Abstract: Based on the hydrodynamic lubrication mechanism, a novel hydrodynamic suspension polishing method is proposed. Principle of hydrodynamic suspension polishing is introduced. According to the slicing of cell structures and analysis on the fluid hydrodynamic pressure, analytical model between suspension force capacity and liquid viscosity, velocity of polishing tool, polishing film thickness, structural parameters of polishing tool including cell length, cell width, shape factor. Effect of main parameters on the value of suspension force capacity during hydrodynamic suspension polishing are compared by numerical simulation. There are extremal condition between suspension force capacity and inclination taper ratio couple with inclination length ratio of polishing tool. Suspension force capacity are in direct proportion to rotational speed of polishing tool and hydrodynamic unit length. Suspension force capacity is in direct proportion to squared hydrodynamic unit width and in inverse proportion to squared polishing gap. The most significant effect are hydrodynamic unit width and polishing gap for the suspension force capacity.
