Abstract: The cable net is an important component of the space deployable mesh antennas. To study the dynamic characteristics of the cable net, the system composition of a large cable-rib tension deployable antenna is firstly introduced. Based on the node distribution law of cable net structure, a parametric mathematic model of cable net for a large cable-rib tension deployable antenna is established by the node coordinate matrix and the component connection matrix. On the basis of this, due to the strong nonlinear characteristics of the cable net, the nonlinear finite element method is used to obtain the overall tangent stiffness matrix and mass matrix of the cable net. The dynamic model of cable net is established by assembling these matrices, then the natural frequency and mode shape of the cable net are obtained through eigenvalue decomposition. This method is suitable for nonlinear modeling and solving of prestressed cable nets and cable-strut structures. Moreover, the effect of structural parameters on the stiffness of the cable net is analyzed, the sensitivities of the natural frequencies to each parameter is calculated, and an effective method to improve the stiffness of the cable net is obtained.
