Abstract: In elastic bearing block track for railways with passenger and freight traffic, the fatigue damage of rail fastening clips is very serious. To find out the reasons and develop solutions, the sophisticated structure model of rail fastening clip is established. Then how to calculate the fatigue damage of rail fastening clip is confirmed. Because of the lower stiffness of the passenger and freight traffic, and the larger freight car axle load, the fatigue damage degree reaches to 5.77×10-7 when a bogie is through, which is more than 2.47×10-9 of passenger train. It follows that the freight car is the main reason why rail fastening clips for passenger and freight traffic are fractured. Compared with the effects of fastener stiffness and rubber coat boot stiffness, it draws the conclusions that the fatigue damage degree is mainly affected by the fastener stiffness. Therefore, it suggests that the fastener stiffness should increase to 80 kN/mm, and the rubber coat boot stiffness should reduce to 50 kN/mm in elastic bearing block track for railways with passenger and freight traffic.
