Abstract: Integrally geared compressor is characterized by compact and high efficiency machines, which widely used in modern process industry. The critical load failure phenomenon was found in an integrally geared compressor monitoring process. The relationship between support stiffness and critical speed is established by formula deduction, and then integrally geared compressor critical load failure mechanism is revealed. To analyse the critical load failure mechanism, a five-axial integrally geared compressor is used as the research object. The gear transmission system model, support bearing system model and rotor system model of the compressor is built, and the impact of gear transmission system, support bearing system and rotor system caused by adjusted load are analyzed and compared. The relationship between load and critical speed is obtained by dynamics model. The results show some critical speed coincides with the rated speed will result in the critical load failure phenomenon when adjusting the compressor load. Using polynomial fitting, different compressor load and critical speed function is gained, and the compressor load is calculated when critical load failure occurs.
