Abstract: Based on the analysis of wire rope material and structure, damage mechanics is introduced in the failure model and an elastic plastic damage constitutive model of wire rope is established. The theoretical equation for the evolution of damage variables under tensile loading is derived. Wire rope elastic plastic damage finite element simulation analysis programs with damage and without damage are written. Damage evolution history of the steel wire rope under the tensile stress is calculated. Two constitutive model simulation results with damage and without damage are contrasted. This provides a basis for further development of the research on the life and reliability of wire rope based on damage mechanics.
