Abstract:

The relationship between instrument sensitivity and rotational stiffness of the pivot is revealed by analyzing the rotational stiffness equation of the cross-spring pivot. In order to eliminate the impacts of payload changes on instrument sensitivity, a cross-spring Hooke hinge with constant rotational stiffness is designed as the rotation unit of a 2-DOF static balancing instrument for unbalanced moment measurement of gimbaled devices. Certain amount of unbalance moments along certain direction are measured by the instrument and the synchronization sensitivity along x axis and y axis is investigated. Experimental results show that when the payload ranges from 0 g to 7 000 g, the synchronization sensitivity of the instrument is about 1.1 g·mm, and it is almost not affected by the changes of the payloads. The stiffness property and load capacity of the designed cross-spring Hooke hinge with constant rotational stiffness are excellent.
