Research on Influence of the Characteristic Parameter of Inter-vehicle Longitudinal Damper on Dynamic Performance of High Speed EMUs

Abstract: Nowadays, there are few applications of longitudinal dampers in the high speed EMUs all over the world. In order to research the influence of the inter-vehicle longitudinal damper on dynamic performance of the high speed EMUs, the dynamic simulation software SIMPACK is used to establish a train dynamic model with inter-vehicle longitudinal dampers of four motors and four trailers based on the actual parameters of CRH380B high speed EMUs. Analyze the influence of the inter-vehicle longitudinal damper on riding quality, stability and curve performance by changing the damping and joint stiffness of damper, result shows as:the inter-vehicle longitudinal damper characteristic parameters have certain impact on the lateral dynamic performance of the vehicle body, such as the lateral acceleration, riding index and the low-frequency yaw during 1-3 Hz which obvious restrained by 36.4%; however, the impact on the dynamic performance of the bogie and wheelsets are relatively small. In summary, installing the inter-vehicle longitudinal damper with reasonable damping and joint stiffness can effectively improve the overall dynamic performance of the train.
