Abstract: The cutting head is the main part employed by a roadheader for cutting, and its design directly determines the performance of a roadheader to some extent. The uniaxial compression experiment is carried out on the homogeneous coal rock made by the concrete, and then the compressive strength and elastic modulus of the coal rock are obtained. Aimed at the complexity of the process of cutting coal rock in a roadheader, the cutting head of a part-face tunnel machine is studied. Based on the physical parameters determined by the uniaxial compression experiment, the dynamic finite element software LS-DYNA is used to model the cutting head of the cutting machine, and then the effects of cutting angle and rotation angle on the cutting load, load fluctuation and specific energy are investigated. By the comparison between the time-domain curve of the cutting moment obtained from the homogeneous coal rock by experiment and the simulation results, and the simulation model is verified. The above research provides a theoretical basis for the improvement of the cutting performance of the cutting head of part of the roadheader, and provides a theoretical reference for the research of other types of cutting or cutting.
