Research Progress of Porous Polymer Bearing Retainer Materials Used in Aerospace

Abstract: Porous polymer bearing retainer with light mass, low noise, strong corrosion resistance, good self-lubricating performance and recyclable oil supply type has been a kind of new lubricating material that could meet special operating conditions. As the core component of space high-speed bearing, the physical and chemical properties and lubrication characteristics of porous polymer bearing retainer determine to a large extent the operation precision and service life of the spacecraft. Four kinds of common porous polymer bearing retainer materials used in aerospace such as cotton-phenolic, nylon, polyimide and polyetheretherketone and the preparations are introduced. Based on the lubrication mechanism of porous oil bearing, the factors that affect the lubricating performance are summarized from the oil release rate and oil adsorption rate. The problems existing in material, space lubrication and failure mechanism, bearing life verification and evaluation as well as their solutions are summarized.
