Abstract: The bumpy ridge joining is the key technology of the heavy die forging press with steel wire wound. The shear resistance and the fatigue resistance of the bumpy ridge pair are vital to the integrity of the frame during service. The use of the technology is limited due to the deficient research on the principle of the bumpy ridge joining and the fatigue resistance of the structure. A set of clamp was developed to test the structural fatigue of the bumpy ridge joining, by which groups of fatigue tests of constant amplitude cycle tangential loading were performed. The cycle characteristic of the load-displacement of the bumpy ridge joining under the cycling tangential load is studied and the exponential model of the structural fatigue is established, the dimensionless fatigue load limit is 0.74 when the load ratio R is 0.1. The relation between dimensionless amplitude value and mean value of the tangential load is studied to get the fatigue constant life curve, as well as a criterion of bumpy ridge structural damage accumulation is established based on Miners theory. The safety evaluation and fatigue life prediction are implemented for the bumpy ridge structures of the heavy die forging press with steel wire wound.
