Abstract: At present, augmented reality technology is developing rapidly at home and abroad, which provides new technical support for complex and changeable personalized product assembly production process and assembly assistance under the condition of aging social human resources. With the proposal of human-centered intelligent manufacturing concept, the human factor adaptability of augmented reality assisted assembly has attracted more and more attention from industry and academia. The elements of complexity in the manual assembly process is analyzed. Considering the different presentation styles of assembly process information, the development stage of assembly process guidance is reviewed and summarized. The fourth generation assembly process guidance assisted by augmented reality is proposed. The research progress is discussed and analyzed from the aspects of human performance of assembly process information enhanced visual presentation, workload measurement, usability and acceptability evaluation, individual adaptability for assembly operator in augmented reality assisted assembly. The challenges and development trends of augmented reality assisted assembly related with adaptability research of human factors in the future is given.
