Research on Critical Technologies of Low-cost Cold Precision Extrusion of Cycloidal Gear

Abstract: Precision reducer, especially RV reducer, is the most critical functional component of industrial robot. Its precision manufacturing has become a major technical challenge for the development and application of modern industrial robots. Aiming at requirements of high precision and high reliability RV reducer in the industrial robot industry, a cold precision extrusion technology for cycloidal gear is developed. The effects of extrusion fishing amount and the extrusion times on the precision of the cycloidal gear are also analyzed. The results show that the cycloidal gear with high precision can be fabricated by cold precision extrusion technology. The extrusion fishing amount is the main factor that affects the precision of the overall cycloidal gear. The optimal extrusion fishing amount is obtained to be 0.05 mm in this study. In addition, combining the direct extrusion and reverse extrusion can further improve the accuracy of the cycloidal gear. The manufacturing process, which enables to significantly improve production efficiency and remarkably reduce the manufacture cost, provides a significantly valuable guidance for low-cost rapid precision forming of cycloidal gears.
