Abstract: Brake disc bolts play an important role in guaranteeing EMU braking and operation safety. It is of great significance to know the bending moment distribution of brake disc bolts for ensuring their service life. Based on the bending moment test method of brake disc bolts of the high speed EMU, there are several bolt bending moment tests on the actual operation lines and the relationship between bolt bending moments and operation speeds is obtained. According to the size and working environment of bolts of wheeled brake discs, the theoretical analysis of bolt bending moment is finished and the theoretical value is obtained. With the establishment of the finite element model of wheeled brake discs, the bolt loads condition under high-speed rotation is simulated. The results show that the bolt bending moment is closely related to the operation speed of EMU. The higher the operation speed is, the bigger the bolt bending moment is. The results from the theory and finite element model show that the values and directions of bending moments of different bolt sections are inconsistent. The extremums of bending moments appear in both end and middle sections. And the directions between end and middle sections are the opposite. However, due to the asymmetry of the wheel structure, the bending moment of the inner end section is bigger than that of the outer end section. The research work lays a foundation for further research on structural reliability of brake disc bolts.
