Simulation Analysis and Experimental Study on Chip Removal Conditions of Internal Chip Removal Bits for CFRP Machining

Abstract: An Abstract:when drilling carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP), the powder chip will be produced, and whether the chip can be removed in time will affect the service life of the tool, and the spread of chip has a great harm to the environment, processing equipment and operators. Aiming at the hole machining of carbon fiber composites in the chip can not achieve real-time recovery problems:A new type of drilling cuttings processing system - suction type chip system is put forward, which can effectively discharge swarf produced in hole machining, the realization of green processing. The aspirating internal chip removal system designed and manufactured is based on the CFD internal chip removal drill bit for CFRP drilling. Based on the study of CFRP chip properties and the minimum airflow speed required for system chip removal, based on the fluid simulation software Fluent, internal chip process fluid dynamics simulation drill are conducted. The simulation shows that:when the cutting speed of n=3 000 r/min and feed f=0.06 mm/r chip, the negative pressure is not less than P ≥ 9 kPa, the system can be generated when the chips in a timely and effective discharge; when the negative pressure chip P=9 kPa and feed f=0.06 mm/r, a bit speed is less than or equal to n ≤ 3 000 r/min, the system can be generated when the chips in a timely and effective discharge. Finally, a suction-type internal chip removal system test platform is built and manufacture chip removal tools in PCD to verify the correctness of the above simulation and theoretical calculations.
