Abstract: A research of the length of induction heating, shrink-fit tool holder thickness, cone angle, length of fit and inner diameter etc. for the influence of minimum contact surface displacement difference with the holder to find the exact relationship between tolerance and minimum clamping temperature. The interference characteristics of holder and tool with the parameterized finite element model by ANSYS parametric design language and verified by experiment for the reliability of the model is built. The minimum displacement difference is calculated by getting the displacement distribution of the contact surface on tool holder with the combination of characterization methods between holder and tool contact status. Calculations indicated that the minimum thermal displacement difference of the fitting surface will decrease with the increase of holder thickness, length of fit, cone angle; it will increase with the inner diameter increasing, and it is good for the clamping if increase the length of induction heating appropriately. Finally, we established the calculating formula between interferencef and the minimum clamping temperature T, it has a practical guiding significance for the clamping process of the cutting tool and the design of the holder.
