Abstract:

:In view of flow behavior about the Tungsten inert gas weld pool surface, the method of use tracer particles to track flow behavior of the weld pool surface is proposed. The new experiment system which contains a laser, a screen, a camera and a welding equipment is established. The screen capture the images about the weld pool surface and the tracer particles which are surface-swimming in the weld pool by mirror reflection of a laser on the surface of weld pool during tungsten inert gas(TIG) welding, at the same time, this changing images on the screen are recorded by charge coupled device(CCD) camera. Further, the flow behavior of weld pool surface between 304 stainless steel and Q235 carbon steel are researched during the TIG welding. The experiment data is analyzed to explore the surface flow law of weld pool during the TIG welding, and the speed algorithm of tracer particles is proposed. The results show that the two different flow behaviors of TIG weld pool exist in the TIG welding process. The liquid metal on the surface flows from the edge to the center of weld pool during the welding of stainless steel, while the surface flow is from the center to the edge of weld pool during the welding of carbon steel, and to determine the flow of liquid metal in the process of stainless steel TIG welding speed is about 12 mm/s, the liquid metal in the process of carbon steel TIG welding flow rate is about 15 mm/s.
