Abstract:

The required appearance quality of tinplate, coating plates and decoration steel plates that is determined by light physical effects of steel strip micro-topography. The required appearance quality includes color, reflection characteristics, texture, clearness of imaging, uniformity and edge sharpness. Glossiness is used as a criterion to assess the appearance quality of tinplates that are related to the microstructure of the steel plate surface such as brightness uniformity, graphic distortion and edge blur when printing on the packing tinplates. The relation between glossiness, which is an optical property of a surface, and the parameters that characterize the geometrical properties of the surface is derived from the basic principle of glossiness measuring, thus the impact of the variations ofRa andPc on glossiness is illuminated. The mathematical correlation between glossiness and the geometrical parameters of tinplate is established by the stepwise regression on the field measured data during batch industrial production, thus how the variation of glossiness withRa andPc is concluded. The correlation is verified by the statistic model of production test. Thus, the control of glossiness is replaced by the control ofRa andPc which is more feasible in tinplate producing. This study proposed a solution and control techniques for the manufacturing process of glossiness qualified tinplate. It is adopted by a factory and the qualified rate of its product reached 97.62%. The solution basically meted clients’ needs.
