Abstract: Elevators are increasingly irreplaceable in the modernization of society, and since their invention, they have undergone several generations of replacement and technology upgrades, while providing convenience for people to move. Numerous studies show that the energy consumed by elevators accounts for about 20% of the total energy consumption of high-rise buildings. Especially in the energy supply and demand contradictions becoming increasingly prominent today, the energy consumption has become the main problem which restricts the elevators development and application. In order to reduce the elevator energy consumption and achieve the energy saving operational purpose, this study proposed and designed a new type of high-efficiency hybrid electric-hydraulic drive energy-saving traction elevator system based on the structural, operating, and energy-consumption characteristics of traction elevators. In research, the operating characteristic of the traditional elevator is analyzed and the proposed new energy saving system is analyzed. The simulation model of traction elevator is established, the energy consumption of traditional elevator and energy saving elevator in operational process is simulated and analyzed, and the simulation results show that the energy saving effects of the energy saving system is obvious. The experiment platform is established and the accuracy of simulation model is validated through the energy consumption test in the high-rise buildings. The experiment results show that the energy efficiency of the new energy saving system is about 10%-14%. The research achievement of the paper not only is one development direction of the energy saving elevator, but also has good application prospect in other vertical lifting mechanical devices.
