Abstract: The effect of structural deformation on the electrical performance of metal space frame (MSF) radome is studied. The structural deformation of the radome under the impact of external loads is analyzed. The far field of antenna is obtained by adding the far field transmitted through skin to the scattering field generated by frame. The effect of the deformed radome on electrical performance is analyzed. The simulation results of some 20 m MSF radome indicate that structural deformation can degrade the electrical performance, and the degradations increase with the radome depth and the working frequency. The influence mechanism of structural deformation of radome on electrical performance is studied and the reason why a large deformation does not degrade the electrical performance greatly is given. A novel method for describing the deformation is presented to accurately estimate the effect of structural deformation on electrical performance.
