Design Method of the Coefficient of Raceway Groove Curvature Radius of Large–size Four–point–contact Ball Bearings

Abstract:

The coefficient of raceway groove curvature radius is an important parameter for bearing design. It has important influence on load-carrying capacity and fatigue life of bearings. Until now there is no design method for the coefficient of raceway groove curvature radius of the large-size four-point-contact ball bearing and its design depends on engineering experience, which would lead to the load-carrying capacity of the designed bearing possibly not to meet the use requirements. A precise drawing method is proposed for  the  static load-carrying  capacity curve of large-size four-point-contact ball bearingsbased on which, a new design method for the coefficient of raceway groove curvature radius of the large-size four-point-contact ball bearing is presented and the corresponding design procedure is provided. The computation method of the fatigue life for this type bearing is also proposed. By this new design method, the coefficient of raceway groove curvature radius of the large-size four-point-contact ball bearing can be designed accurately. The bearing designed by this method must meet the bearing static load –carrying capacity and its fatigue life can be improved. The bearing design efficiency will also be improved by this method. The research results can provide theory basis for developing the design method of the coefficient of raceway groove curvature radius of the large-size four-point-contact ball bearing.
