Abstract: A digital three-dimensional manufacturing process model(MPM) is established based on probing the essence of manufacturing process information. MPM is able to express the complete and comprehensive process information, and to present the geometric evolution of the product/part during manufacturing and the multi-view characteristics of the process. The MPM is defined in triples and the structural relationship of process information is addressed. MPM specifies the natural rule of process information and is conducive to process information generation and optimization. In order to facilitate the use of process information by downstream processes, a novel expression framework named MPASS (Manufacturing process as stream and snapshot) is proposed. MPASS comprises of process stream model, dynamic setting and snapshot. The framework could express the digital multi-view of process information in which stream model is used to express the process information organized in process activities; dynamic setting is the projection from different object perspectives in order to organize and view process information flexibly; and snapshot expresses the status value and the relevance of certain moment by using static object geometry and incremental method. Different expression data can be used for diverse subsequent manufacturing and management processes.

Key words: dynamic setting, manufacturing process information model, process stream model, snapshot
